YFF Conference: Meet & Greet

Two weekends ago, Gabi, from YFF (who has now made top 5 in the MTV TJ Challenge!!) invited 10 other amazing plus size bloggers from around the world for a weekend in New York City. During the conference, they got a chance to meet with retailers like Torrid, Macy'sAmerican RagCity Chic, Evans, & Monif C. and give them feedback on what they felt needed to be improved within the overall plus size sector. They were also able to speak with other fashion designers and magazine editors, had a photoshoot with Plus Model Magazine and met with readers in NY!

I attended the YFF Meet & Greet, which was held in Brooklyn at Re/Dress NYC, a plus size vintage store that I have fallen in love with.  It was amazing to see so many different styles in the building and I have to make sure to make another stop there before leaving to Chicago!! I had many inspirational conversations with a lot of fellow readers, bloggers and many other wonderful ladies. Also, with those that I spoke to who saw my video, I appreciate all the love--it really means a lot!

By the way, I was also able to model some of the clothes for a new plus size Canadian clothing company, Lotis Clothing, which was a new vendor within the store!

Summertime Chi turned DC then NY

To update you all on life so far, I am a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Advertising. At the end of the year, I was accepted into CEA’s 1st Annual Advertising Boot Camp Program, which was held at Howard University. For 2 weeks straight I stayed up literally all night long finishing projects and presentations on our assigned clients (NAACP & Coca-Cola) while competing with 20 other students for internships in Boston or New York. Long story short, I won an internship at Digitas NY and the very next day, I traveled with 9 other winners to the city and have been having the time of my life ever since!

My internship experience has been great and I feel fortunate that I was able to join a digital agency due to the world's rapid changes. I heard in a presentation a couple weeks ago that in the next 5 years, technology will have changed more than it has ever within the past 50. That’s amazing, and I’m glad that I’m able to a part of this digital revolution.

Outside of my internship, I’ve done some pretty cool things. One of them was getting the opportunity to attend a private event at MTV where I was able to meet one of my style icons, Whitney Port!!

The forum, "It's Up to Us," was revolved around the celebration of young service leaders and was moderated by MTV's Sway Calloway (who called me out! lol) and included Ben Nemtin from the cast of MTV's The Buried Life, Zora Howard, Nyea, and former first daughter, Barbara Bush.

...and there was also a performance by Rhythm City from ABDC!

So, let's start this thing! I'm Aryn and some of you may know me from my feature on Young, Fat, & Fabulous or as a finalist in Faith 21's Most Stylish Gal Search. I've gotten so much positive feedback and have been asked many questions so I decided to join this plus size MOVEMENT.

By the way, please vote for @gabifresh (blogger of Young, Fat, & Fabulous)--she is a finalist in the MTV TJ contest, competing for a $100,000 salary job with MTV Networks!

Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3...

Hey everybody! itsmeAryn...

I thought I knew which blog site I'd want to choose but now I am still clueless lol
(what do you all think about this one?: http://embodybeauty.tumblr.com/)

I’m looking forward to sharing my 2¢ with you all :) Specifically, I want to draw focus towards the plus size fashion industry as well as include other tidbits from the marketing world! I am a strong believer that all things contain beauty no matter how tall, short, small, large, pale or dark it may be. I hope that you all will enjoy this journey as I will periodically post about plus size fashion. Let me know what you'd like to see & bare with me for a little as I am still learning.

love yourself, ALL OF YOU :)
